Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles.

What you will do

  • Own the design and integration of complex electromechanical systems across the full vehicle lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Drive requirements definition, CAD design, FEA analysis, numerical modeling, and validation.
  • Build, test, troubleshoot, and iterate on hardware in fast-moving development environments.
  • Support sea trials and in-field validation to verify system performance and resolve real-world issues.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, shipyards, and internal cross-functional teams to drive execution.
  • Travel occasionally (~15%) to support testing, validation, and field operations.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience owning complete mechanical or electromechanical systems from design through production.
  • Strong fundamentals in structural and thermal engineering.
  • Functional knowledge of electrical systems, including high-voltage battery systems and power electronics.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks) and analysis tools (MATLAB, Simulink, or FEA).
  • Practical experience designing, building, and debugging hardware in prototype or production environments.
  • Must be based in or able to work on-site in Torrance, CA.

Nice to have

  • Experience with commercial vessels, marine systems, and Coast Guard/ABS regulations.
  • Exposure to sheet metal manufacturing, CNC machining, composites, or shop tools.
  • Experience in fluid system design, including pump and heat exchanger sizing.
  • Strong GD&T fundamentals and experience creating detailed engineering drawings.
