TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Java/React): Building and modernizing enterprise-scale applications for vehicle order fulfillment within GM's manufacturing footprint with an accent on scalable platforms and resilient software. Focus on leading end-to-end design and delivery using Java, Quarkus, and React to optimize plant execution and production data control.

Location: Hybrid (Austin, Texas). Must be based in or be able to relocate to Austin. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

What you will do

  • Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of enterprise applications using React for UI and Java/Quarkus for microservices.
  • Develop and communicate a technical vision aligned with product goals and collaborate with architects on innovation strategies.
  • Implement modern infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes within RedHat Open Shift and build CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a high-performance engineering culture based on SOLID principles and TDD.
  • Serve as a technical advisor, translating complex architectural topics into business-relevant insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with a heavy focus on Java.
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring peers and driving technical initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with React, Quarkus, Hibernate, REST APIs, microservices, and design patterns.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions) and agile methodologies.
  • Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with complex SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures.
  • Deep experience working within the SCRUM development methodology.
