Senior Process Engineer (Optical Fabrication)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite fabrication-floor work required. Candidates must be work authorized in the United States without employer sponsorship and legally authorized to access controlled technology under U.S. export regulations.

What you will do

• Own the development, stabilization, and daily performance of grinding and polishing processes in optical fabrication.
• Define process parameters, process windows, capability targets, specifications, work instructions, and standard work.
• Improve removal-rate stability, figure, roughness, defectivity, yield, and first-pass yield across tools and shifts.
• Lead qualification of new pad materials, slurry chemistries, pitch recipes, machine upgrades, and deterministic process-control technologies.
• Interpret interferometry, profilometry, surface-inspection, and statistical data using structured analytical methods.
• Collaborate with production, metrology, quality, equipment engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing support teams.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in mechanical, optical, materials, or a related engineering field.
• At least 5 years of experience in optical fabrication, precision machining, grinding, or polishing.
• Experience with grinding mechanics, polishing processes, metrology interpretation, and process development.
• Strong analytical problem-solving, root-cause analysis, process-improvement, and corrective-action verification skills.
• Proficiency with interferometry, profilometry, surface-inspection tools, and JMP, Minitab, or equivalent statistical software.
• U.S. work authorization without employer sponsorship and authorization to access controlled technology are required.
