Postdoctoral Researcher (Electrical Engineering): Developing advanced coordinated optimal control and optimization frameworks for integrated AC-MTDC power systems with an accent on OPF-related methodologies for future transmission networks. Focus on modeling, analysis, and simulation of hybrid AC/DC grids to enable secure and efficient grid operation.

Location: Delft, Netherlands. Must be able to relocate to the Netherlands

Salary: €3,546 – €5,538 per month

What you will do

• Develop optimization and control frameworks for AC-MTDC power systems to ensure secure grid operation.
• Conduct modeling, analysis, and simulation of hybrid AC/DC grids.
• Research dynamic and security-constrained optimal power flow and multi-timescale operation.
• Collaborate closely with industrial partners including TenneT and Swissgrid.
• Utilize advanced infrastructure such as RTDS platforms and HVDC/DC grids laboratories.
• Contribute to open science through scientific publishing and open-source software development.

Requirements

• Solid knowledge of electrical power systems and supply-demand matching.
• Proven experience in power system modeling techniques.
• Proficiency in programming and simulation using MATLAB, Python, Julia, or C/C++.
• Strong analytical skills with knowledge of machine learning and/or operational research.
• Ability to relocate to the Netherlands for the duration of the appointment.
• Independence, self-motivation, and a strong passion for fundamental research.

• Interest in real-time and predictive control methods for future power systems.
