What you will do

• Own the data strategy for modernization, defining data boundaries and SQL-to-Cosmos migration patterns.
• Design and implement scalability and performance improvements to reliably serve large enterprise clients.
• Identify platform bottlenecks through profiling, load testing, and production telemetry analysis.
• Establish performance budgets, benchmarks, and monitoring standards to prevent regression.
• Implement patterns for multi-tenant scalability, data partitioning, and resource management.
• Integrate AI-assisted development tools and help establish AI-augmented practices across the team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of data architecture experience, including work on large-scale legacy systems with relational complexity.
• Direct experience migrating from SQL Server to Cosmos DB at production scale, including partition design.
• Strong event schema design experience, including versioning and consumer contracts.
• Solid understanding of CDC patterns and tooling, such as Debezium.
• Must be based in the USA.

Nice to have

• HCM, payroll, benefits, or tax domain experience.
• Familiarity with Azure Service Bus, Azure Container Apps, or Terraform.
• Background working in a formal modernization or re-platforming program.
