TL;DR

Process Engineer - Water (Water Treatment): Designing and managing end-to-end water and wastewater treatment systems for a variety of industrial and municipal projects with an accent on modular units, artificial beaches, and potable reuse. Focus on producing full technical packages including P&IDs and mass balances, optimizing CapEx/OpEx, and leading on-site commissioning.

Location: Austin, TX (Onsite); travel to commissioning sites required.

Company

hirify.global is a US-based water treatment company specializing in sustainable recovery and recycling of water for industrial and municipal markets.

What you will do

  • Design complete water and wastewater treatment systems across drinking, reuse, industrial, and residential applications.
  • Produce comprehensive technical documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances, and process control narratives.
  • Size and specify all major/minor equipment and develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Perform process modeling and simulation using GPS-X, BioWin, WAVE, or custom Python models.
  • Ensure designs comply with US regulatory standards (EPA SDWA, NPDES, NSF/ANSI, TCEQ).
  • Lead on-site commissioning, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and performance validation.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Texas PE strongly preferred).
  • 7+ years of hands-on water and/or wastewater treatment process engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Direct experience with Direct Potable Reuse (DPR) or Indirect Potable Reuse (IPR).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and industry-standard process modeling software.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to commissioning sites.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience with PFAS treatment design and electrochemical processes.
  • Fluency with modern AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) for developing internal engineering automations.

Culture & Benefits

  • High-intensity, fast-paced environment with rapid project turnaround (months instead of years).
  • Opportunity to work across every vertical of the water industry.
  • A culture of directness and high ownership.
  • Respect for personal time when the operating tempo allows.

Hiring process
