TL;DR

What you will do
- Lead high-level architectural design for complex, cross-service features and maintain design documentation (ADRs, tech specs).
- Implement critical product components using advanced Java, ensuring high performance, correctness, and maintainability.
- Direct agentic AI tools (Claude Code, Codex) across the full engineering workflow, including code generation and refactoring.
- Drive the engineering roadmap for assigned product areas and identify technical risks or architectural limitations.
- Collaborate with product, DevOps, and ML teams to communicate technical decisions and align on delivery.
- Participate in the hiring process and technical knowledge-sharing sessions.
Requirements
- Expertise in Java internals (GC tuning, concurrency, NIO) and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot).
- Strong experience with microservices, distributed systems (Sagas, CQRS), and scalable API design.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Must be based in Canada (Hybrid in Montreal/Toronto or Remote elsewhere in the country).
- Mandatory practitioner-level experience with agentic AI tools like Claude Code, Codex, or equivalents.
- Deep knowledge of SOLID principles, Clean Code, and GoF design patterns.
