What you will do

• Own and maintain critical parts of the data engineering ecosystem, including core database drivers and SDKs.
• Develop and optimize official data connectors for Kafka, dbt, Spark, Flink, and Beam.
• Build integrations with leading visualization platforms such as Grafana, Tableau, Power BI, and Metabase.
• Collaborate with the open-source community and enterprise users to set standards for performance and reliability.
• Optimize data throughput over the wire using deep knowledge of JDBC and network protocols.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience focusing on data-intensive solutions.
• Proven experience with the internals of Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Kafka Connect, or Apache Beam.
• Strong proficiency in Java and the JVM ecosystem, including memory management and GC tuning.
• Deep understanding of database fundamentals, SQL, data modeling, and OLAP systems.
• Solid experience with concurrent programming, threads, and asynchronous patterns in Java.
• Must be based in Canada.

Nice to have

• Prior contributions to open-source projects.
• Familiarity with hirify.global or similar high-performance data platforms.
• Working knowledge of Python for data engineering (Pandas, PySpark, Airflow).
