What you will do

• Conduct studies involving natural soils, sediments, and waters treated with 14C-labeled pesticide materials.
• Evaluate pesticide metabolism, abiotic degradation, and mobility.
• Perform sample weighing, solution preparation, pipetting, solvent extractions, and related wet chemistry procedures.
• Use liquid scintillation counting and other radiolabeled-material techniques.
• Perform high-performance liquid chromatography analysis and maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Follow laboratory safety, waste-disposal, and GLP procedures; obtain approval before working overtime.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Comfort working with radio-labeled materials is required.
• Good wet chemistry and general laboratory techniques, including sample weighing, solution preparation, pipetting, and solvent extractions.
• Experience with relevant testing equipment and techniques, including HPLC; familiarity with liquid scintillation counting or radiolabeled techniques.
• Familiarity with GLP and the ability to follow directions and work with varying staff.
• Onsite work in Durham, United States, with adherence to laboratory safety and waste-disposal policies.

Nice to have

• Recent graduation or 1–2 years of relevant experience.
