Senior Research Assistant (Immunoassays)

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States; onsite laboratory role with required weekend work on Saturday or Sunday.

Annual base salary: $44,300–$64,300, with potential discretionary or non-discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Execute immunoassay kit component testing, qualification testing, sample processing, and sample testing using established and newly developed assays.
• Perform experiments to optimize product performance using complex layouts and procedures.
• Prepare and test pilot-scale components for immunoassay kits.
• Maintain, qualify, troubleshoot, and arrange repairs for laboratory equipment.
• Train new employees on assay procedures, analysis software, and equipment maintenance.
• Manage laboratory supplies, waste disposal, safety procedures, and good laboratory practices.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a scientific field or equivalent relevant work experience.
• At least two years of laboratory experience, preferably with immunoassays.
• Experience with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) is required.
• Knowledge of laboratory terminology, equipment handling, safe work practices, and experiment execution under protocols or SOPs.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to troubleshoot instrumentation issues.
• Ability to work weekends, stand or sit for extended periods, work at heights above four feet, and lift or move up to 25 pounds.
