Software Development Engineer (AWS Networks)

Location: Sydney, Australia; workplace attendance may be required for critical events, with travel to data center, network, hirify.global, and customer sites as needed.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain automated services for the AWS global network backbone.
• Build high-quality distributed systems and tooling for software-defined networks.
• Improve service performance, durability, cost efficiency, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate with network, systems, and software engineering teams on designs, rollouts, deployments, and operational support.
• Measure service quality, prevent customer-impacting faults, and document processes and procedures.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, typically one week every two months.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ year designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed applications, tools, systems, or services.
• Experience with C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• Experience across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
