AI Strategist (AI)

TL;DR

AI Strategist (AI/Social Science): Building and sustaining relationships and developing thought leadership to support the growth of AIR’s AI portfolio with an accent on partnership development and market intelligence. Focus on translating complex AI developments into strategic insights, creating compelling external materials, and identifying funding opportunities.

Location: Remote within the United States or from office locations (Arlington, Chapel Hill, Chicago, Sacramento, Austin). Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

Salary: $115,000 - $140,000 USD

What you will do

• Build and maintain relationships with practitioners, researchers, funders, and government agencies aligned with AI priorities.
• Lead outreach to potential partners and collaborators to advance relationships toward defined collaboration or funding opportunities.
• Develop high-quality external communications, including white papers, blog posts, research briefs, and presentations.
• Monitor the AI landscape across social sectors to translate insights into strategic recommendations for external positioning.
• Coordinate expert convenings, communities of practice, and cross-network learning activities for AI evidence generation.
• Identify and track AI-related business development opportunities and support proposal development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years, Master’s with 4+ years, or Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience in social sciences, public policy, education, technology, or communications.
• Substantive knowledge of AI and its implications across various sectors.
• Proven experience in partnership development or strategy initiatives within nonprofit, government, academic, or philanthropic settings.
• Experience conducting market analysis, partner landscape assessments, or competitive intelligence.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis (employment-based visa sponsorship is not available).
• Ability to translate technical AI concepts into actionable guidance for external positioning and business development.
