What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, observable, and maintainable platform services that power AI products.
• Own end-to-end technical decisions regarding architecture, APIs, data models, performance, and security.
• Develop backend systems using TypeScript and Python, while shaping frontend experiences in JavaScript.
• Drive the integration of LLM-based and agentic AI capabilities into production systems.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for code reviews, testing strategies, and deployment practices.
• Collaborate daily in-person with product, design, and data teams to ship high-impact features.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production-grade systems.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python, and solid JavaScript for frontend contributions.
• Strong platform engineering skills: distributed systems, API design, and cloud architecture (AWS/GCP).
• Practical experience building on top of LLMs, including prompt engineering and applied AI engineering.
• BS/BA in Computer Science; graduate degree is a plus.
• Must be based in San Francisco and committed to working in-office 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Production experience with conversational AI, dialogue systems, NLP pipelines, or agentic architectures.
• Background in fintech, banking infrastructure, or regulated financial environments.
• Experience as an early engineer at a successfully shipped startup.
