Electrical Cost Consultant

Location: Remote, with the expectation of being located near one of hirify.global's Canadian offices and attending in person for collaboration as needed. Offices listed for this role include Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec. The position operates within a flexible hybrid work environment.

Salary: CAD 70,000–100,000 annual base compensation. Additional compensation such as bonuses, equity, benefits, or other incentives is not included.

What you will do

• Prepare electrical quantity take-offs, cost estimates, estimate structures, budgets, and cost plans from drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Support forecasting, benchmarking, change-order review, cost monitoring, and project costing across commercial, institutional, residential, and infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with senior consultants, project teams, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients on scope, pricing, requirements, and deliverables.
• Develop expertise in electrical systems, construction costing, and consulting practices through mentorship and project exposure.
• Take on increasing responsibility as experience grows and contribute to more complex projects.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
• Experience in electrical estimating, construction cost management, or cost consulting within the construction, engineering, or development industry.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Experience preparing quantity take-offs and detailed estimates for switchgear, transformers, generators, panels, and other core power and distribution systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Must be located near one of the Canadian offices and able to attend in person for collaboration as needed.

Nice to have

• Exposure to lighting, fire alarm, security, communications, or other low-voltage systems.
• Equivalent practical experience in electrical estimating or construction cost management.
