TL;DR
Junior Product Owner (GovTech): Managing the backlog for public-sector procurement software with an accent on translating complex regulatory requirements into technical user stories. Focus on leveraging AI tools to accelerate ticket authoring, improving team velocity, and ensuring strict compliance with accessibility and audit standards.
Location: Hybrid: 3 days/week in Oakville, ON office (Tues/Wed/Thurs)
Compensation Range: $60,000–$80,000

What you will do
- Own the backlog for SAFe delivery teams, translating roadmap initiatives into technically viable user stories.
- Break features into small, testable stories with clear acceptance criteria for developers and AI agents.
- Utilize AI tooling (Claude, etc.) to draft, critique, and refine requirement tickets.
- Manage dependencies across sibling teams and surface risks to the RTE and PM.
- Partner daily with Tech Leads, developers, and UX to resolve story ambiguity and ensure delivery.
- Act as a proxy for public-agency procurement officers and vendors to ensure both experiences are optimized.
Requirements
- Technical degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools for product work (story drafting, analysis, ticket critique).
- Proven ability to break complex features into small, clear, testable stories with acceptance criteria.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Agile/SAFe delivery frameworks.
- Excellent written communication skills for async coordination and ticket authoring.
Nice to have
- Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy domains such as GovTech, healthcare, finance, or legal tech.
- Working comfort with React and SQL to discuss technical refactors with engineering leads.
- Experience defining and owning AI-assisted development workflows.
