Salary: CA$230K – CA$280K + Equity

What you will do

• Lead the incremental refactoring of core automation systems to increase predictability and testability.
• Transition legacy automation from tightly coupled logic into a decoupled, scalable architecture.
• Design and implement new technical standards for the Core Backend Team.
• Develop next-generation internal tools using an AI-first approach to scale from 5M to 50M users.
• Collaborate directly with the co-founder/CTO on high-level product implementation and system design.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a founder or lead architect at an early-stage startup.
• Deep expertise in system design for offline and asynchronous jobs, including failure retry logic.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Nest.js, React, GraphQL, and AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda).
• Obsession with success rates and hunting edge cases in complex business logic.
• Location: Must be based in Ontario, Canada
