Staff Software Engineer (Identity Platform): Designing and scaling authentication and authorization systems for a virtual clinic with an accent on security, scalability, and identity standards. Focus on implementing OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML protocols to secure a growing product ecosystem across distributed microservices.
Location: Remote, US (Hub cities). Hybrid model: NYC employees work onsite 3 days/week; employees in SF, Seattle, Boston, DC, and Chicago attend monthly "Work Together Days".
Salary: $230,000 - $270,000 per year

What you will do
- Lead the technical vision and roadmap for the Identity Platform, ensuring scalable and reliable auth systems.
- Design and implement cloud-based identity solutions including SSO, MFA, and federated identity integrations.
- Set organization-wide standards for authentication and authorization across all services and client applications.
- Drive technical design discussions and mentor mid-level engineers on security best practices and architecture.
- Collaborate with product, security, and compliance teams to develop new features adhering to quality standards.
- Evaluate emerging technologies in identity and access management to drive engineering innovation.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of backend development experience with at least 3 years focused on identity management.
- Deep expertise in OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, JWT, and MFA flows.
- Proven experience with complex distributed systems, microservices, and containerization.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and secure handling of PII.
- Must be based in the United States.

- Familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar security and compliance requirements.
