R Software Engineer

TL;DR

R Software Engineer (R/Posit): Building and deploying R software packages and managing application environments with an accent on R ecosystem integration and package management. Location: Remote (Global). Working hours must overlap with US Pacific Time (12:00 PM – 5:00 PM PST)

What you will do

• Build, deploy, and troubleshoot R software packages within managed application environments.
• Ensure smooth integration across R ecosystems, platforms, and package management tools.
• Support the adoption of platforms by developers and end users through guidance and training.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and improve technical solutions.

Requirements

• Significant expertise with R programming ecosystem and Posit tools (RStudio/Workbench, RShiny/Connect).
• Ability to troubleshoot dependencies and build failures for R packages.
• Strong working experience with Linux or Unix operating systems, software compilation, and the command line.
• Knowledge of Git and experience with GitHub, GitLab, and/or Bitbucket.
• Experience presenting technical work to diverse audiences including stakeholders.
• Working hours must overlap with US Pacific Time (12:00 PM – 5:00 PM PST)

Nice to have

• Experience with Bioconductor or similar scientific/bioinformatics tools.
• Knowledge of Python and Jupyter Notebooks.
• Familiarity with software packaging tools such as EasyBuild, Spack, or Homebrew.
• Understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD and testing frameworks.
• Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
