What you will do

• Design and optimize data pipelines using MS SQL Server and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Develop Spark SQL notebooks for complex data transformations and financial calculations.
• Implement automated data quality checks and reconciliation processes.
• Consult on database architecture to balance performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with QA and engineering teams to build data-driven testing strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of schemas, processes, and data flows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency in Azure ecosystem (Synapse, Data Factory, Delta Lake).
• Hands-on experience with PySpark and Spark SQL.
• Coding skills in SQL, Python, and/or C#.
• Experience with Git and Azure DevOps for CI/CD.
• Must be based in the UK for a hybrid work arrangement.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Azure Purview or data cataloguing solutions.
• Experience with Great Expectations or similar data quality frameworks.
• Familiarity with dbt (data build tool).
• Exposure to GraphQL APIs and modern visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Understanding of behaviour-driven development for data testing.
