Tier 2 Operations Engineer (VMware)

What you will do

• Administer and manage VMware Horizon 8 Connection Server, virtual desktops, and published applications.
• Perform installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting of VDI infrastructure components.
• Provide Tier II/III end-user support for globally dispersed users across multiple time zones.
• Conduct system administration for Linux and Windows-based servers in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Monitor distributed data systems and perform routine health checks, log analysis, and incident response.
• Develop technical documentation, SOPs, and collaborate with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability remediation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5 years of experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
• Hands-on experience administering VMware Horizon 8 environments.
• Proficiency in supporting Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Active Top-Secret Clearance (well-qualified candidates with Secret clearance may be considered).
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and hybrid environments.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting federal government or DoD environments and familiarity with NIST RMF.
• Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
• Industry certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft/Linux certifications.
