GIS Technician

TL;DR

GIS Technician: Creating, updating, and maintaining system models, maps, and facility information using GIS software with an accent on ArcMap and ArcFM tools. Focus on interpreting construction drawings, verifying asset data, and ensuring mapping accuracy for electric utility infrastructure.

Location: Must be based in St. Louis, Missouri (Hybrid: 3 days on-site)

What you will do

• Create and maintain overhead and underground system maps and diagrams.
• Interpret field plats, operating notes, and construction reporting data.
• Post as-built changes and maintain land base records using GIS software.
• Perform switching operations and resolve mapping discrepancies.
• Check finished drawings for quality, accuracy, and adherence to standards.
• Provide specialized maps for internal departments and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work on W-2 basis (No C2C or 1099).
• Must be based in or able to commute to St. Louis, Missouri.
• Associate degree in a technical field (GIS, CAD, or Engineering Technology).
• Minimum 1 year of experience with ArcMap or similar mapping software.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a personal vehicle for business.
• Ability to perform field inspections in all weather conditions.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or other CAD-related software.
• Experience in utility design, distribution systems, or surveying.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
