Senior Performance Engineer (Infrastructure)

TL;DR

Senior Performance Engineer (Linux/eBPF): Designing and implementing performance testing strategies and observability for a global Edge Network with an accent on latency improvements and kernel tuning. Focus on identifying systemic throughput bottlenecks, automating performance gates, and optimizing traffic shaping via eBPF offloads.

Location: Must be based in Poland, Serbia, Cyprus, or Georgia. Hybrid or remote options available.

What you will do

• Define and evolve the performance testing strategy, ensuring test workloads mirror production traffic patterns.
• Instrument the edge fleet for deep observability using latency histograms, resource saturation signals, and tracing pipelines.
• Design and enforce staged (A/B, canary) rollout processes for performance-sensitive changes.
• Drive systemic throughput, latency, and efficiency improvements via kernel tuning and eBPF offloads.
• Automate performance gates and reduce toil through configuration management and agentic workflows.
• Collaborate with R&D, Network, and Security teams to ship performance-aware features and lead incident post-mortems.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in Linux/Unix kernel internals, process scheduling, memory management, and I/O subsystems.
• Proficiency with performance profiling and tracing tools: eBPF (bpftrace, libbpf), perf, gdb, strace, and flamegraphs.
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible, Terraform).
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, HTTP/2–3, TLS, load balancing, and traffic engineering.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and bare-metal edge infrastructure.
• Must be based in Poland, Serbia, Cyprus, or Georgia.

Nice to have

• Experience with Puppet, Prometheus, Grafana, or VictoriaMetrics.
• Knowledge of BGP and routing protocols.
• Programming skills in C, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with kernel bypass networking (DPDK / XDP) or CDN architecture.
• Experience with AI/ML in production systems.
