What you will do

• Own end-to-end delivery of significant features, from clarifying requirements to shipping and iteration.
• Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines supporting core product functionality.
• Drive critical system design decisions, balancing scalability, performance, reliability, and cost.
• Define quality metrics, testing strategies, and observability, automating them wherever possible.
• Lead structured experimentation by defining hypotheses and translating insights into system improvements.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and code reviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years of hands-on coding.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript for building APIs and services.
• Experience designing and scaling distributed systems in production environments.
• Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD, and observability tools.
• Proven ability to own systems end-to-end in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• Must be based in Canada

Nice to have

• Experience building data-driven or ML-enabled systems.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, streaming systems, or large-scale data processing.
• Exposure to modern AI tools or integrations.
