Senior Platform System Vehicle Test Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Foster City, CA (Hybrid)

Zoox is building a ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem to provide next-generation mobility-as-a-service in urban environments.

What you will do

• Develop and execute technical and logistical planning for vehicle tests in coordination with cross-functional teams.
• Interpret complex test data and strategize the optimal balance between physical testing and simulation.
• Analyze system requirements to ensure alignment with safety concepts and maintain traceability.
• Design, develop, and operate the Zoox Robot, test equipment, and instrumentation systems.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in the field, tracing failures to specific subsystems.
• Define and develop automated data extraction tools to streamline analysis and reporting.

Requirements

• B.S. or higher in Automotive, Aerospace, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 6+ years of test engineering experience in the automobile, robotics, or aerospace industry.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, drive/chassis systems, and control theory.
• Proficiency with automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
• Experience with test scripting and data analysis using Python or Matlab.
• Strong analytical skills and hands-on experience with automotive electronics.

Nice to have

• Experience developing integration and test plans for safety-critical or autonomous systems.
• Familiarity with CAPL, Linux systems, and OxTS.
