Senior Calibration Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

Senior Calibration Engineer (Automotive): Planning and executing end-to-end diagnostic evaluations for production vehicles with an accent on J1699 compliance and OBD verification. Location: Hybrid (Milford, Michigan). Must report to office at least 3 times a week. Immigration sponsorship is not provided.

What you will do

• Plan, schedule, and execute PVET test plans for ICE and EV programs to ensure OBD compliance.
• Analyze log files to verify that diagnostic systems properly detect, store, and report faults.
• Manage and maintain a verification fleet of salable vehicles, ensuring software and calibration are up to date.
• Lead J1699-3 and J1699-5 test execution and develop test plans for upcoming model years.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with calibration, software, and certification teams to resolve identified issues.
• Leverage data mining and telemetry to identify emerging diagnostic or hardware issues early.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Computer, or related).
• Experience in engine/transmission diagnostics, calibration, or PVET vehicle-level test roles.
• Knowledge of serial communications and in-vehicle networks (CAN/LIN) and tools such as INCA/MDA or Vehicle Spy.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to support vehicle-based testing.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Prior experience as a PVET Engineer, Diagnostic Calibrator, or Test Automation Engineer.
• Hands-on experience leading J1699-3/J1699-5 testing and OBD certification data collection.
• Familiarity with PRTS creation and management.
