Software Engineer (Backend)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Backend): Building highly scalable platforms to ingest, process, and augment music video data with an accent on decentralized microservices architecture. Focus on implementing distributed systems using Kafka and Kafka Streams, designing REST APIs, and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS.

Location: Must reside and work within the United States. This is a remote position, but may require up to 15% travel for onsite workshops.

Salary: $125,000 - $145,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect, design, and build highly scalable platforms for music video data ingestion and processing.
• Implement new features focusing on a decentralized microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX, and infrastructure engineers to design and deliver solutions.
• Build features enabling content providers to deliver music videos across various platforms.
• Debug, triage, and provide technical support for users within the developed systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and SQL.
• Experience implementing scalable distributed architectures using Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams.
• Expertise in designing REST APIs and working with modern persistence layers (NoSQL and RDBs).
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes clusters, and Docker containers.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern web technologies: Node, React, and GraphQL.
• Knowledge of MyBatis.
• Experience with behavior-driven integration testing using Kotest, JUnit, or WireMock.
