TL;DR

Apprentice Tax Accountant (Finance): Supporting UK and Ireland businesses with VAT, corporate, and income tax compliance with an accent on data analysis and financial reporting. Focus on assisting with tax return preparation, internal controls compliance, and improving finance processes.

Location: Hybrid (Yeovil, UK). Must be based in or be able to work in Yeovil for 3 days per week.

What you will do

• Support the preparation of VAT and Corporate Tax returns, budgets, and cashflow forecasts.
• Analyze data from Operational and Commercial Finance teams to support tax reporting and compliance.
• Review payroll and expense data for tax compliance, including annual taxable benefit calculations.
• Manage monthly tax accounting processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Assist with product VAT and duty classifications and conduct tax research.
• Support internal and external audits and participate in business transformation projects.

Requirements

• Graduate or educated to A-Level standard (including Maths and English GCSEs).
• Strong attention to detail with an analytical and data-focused mindset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work from the Yeovil Head Office 3 days per week.
• Self-motivated approach to learning and development.

Nice to have

• Experience with Power BI, Power Query, or similar data tools.
• Interest in using AI tools to improve analysis and efficiency.
