Staff Software Engineer (Python/FastAPI)

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
• Architect database solutions with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and serverless solutions using AWS Lambda.
• Implement messaging and event systems using AWS SQS/SNS for asynchronous workflows.
• Contribute to infrastructure as code using AWS CDK and manage deployment pipelines.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to refine requirements and deliver high-quality features.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack development with a track record of shipping production code.
• Advanced proficiency in Python (async programming) and strong expertise in FastAPI.
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL and AWS services (RDS, Lambda, S3, SQS/SNS).
• Mandatory hands-on experience with AI coding tools and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript for full-stack contributions.
• Must be based in the US and able to travel quarterly to New Haven, CT.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS CDK, Terraform, or Pulumi.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, GraphQL, or microservices patterns.
• Experience with Redis, data pipelines, and ETL processes.
• Background or exposure to medical systems and processes.
• Experience with Next.js or React.
