What you will do
- Design project-specific internal audit proposals, risk registers, and risk management measures for new and ongoing projects.
- Monitor IA metrics and KPIs across a country portfolio and lead the correction of missed or declining targets.
- Lead transparent investigations of high-risk cases and manage escalation protocols in coordination with Country Directors.
- Directly manage and develop Internal Audit Managers across assigned countries, conducting performance reviews and growth assessments.
- Identify safeguarding and fraud risks within organizational sub-cultures and conduct annual training for Programs teams.
- Support the evolution of global IA strategy by leveraging AI and automation for fraud risk management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in internal audit, risk management, or fraud investigation, particularly in complex field-based environments.
- Strong analytical skills and technical fluency with data tools and dashboards to drive risk-based decisions.
- Experienced people manager capable of building high-performing teams across multiple geographies.
- Excellent communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and navigate cross-functional complexity.
- Strong preference for candidates based in Mozambique, DRC, Rwanda, or Uganda.
- French or Portuguese language proficiency is highly desirable.
