TL;DR

Credit Analyst (Mortgage & Property Lending): Managing underwriting and risk decision-making for a property-backed lending portfolio with an accent on financial analysis and serviceability calculations. Location: Remote. Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM AEST (Alexandria, VIC Time)

What you will do

  • Review loan applications, corporate financial statements, tax returns, and credit bureau reports to verify borrower capacity.
  • Conduct property research, audit independent valuer assessments, and analyze local market trends.
  • Write comprehensive credit submissions and structured risk summaries with approval/decline recommendations.
  • Assist in structuring complex residential or commercial lending deals aligned with credit policy and risk appetite.
  • Liaise with mortgage brokers, borrowers, and external valuers to manage the application pipeline.
  • Audit active loan files and monitor ongoing portfolio risk indicators and covenants.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of direct experience in credit analysis, mortgage lending operations, or commercial financial analysis.
  • Practical understanding of property-backed lending, SME finance, or commercial real estate.
  • Advanced ability to interpret balance sheets, P&L statements, and calculate debt service coverage ratios.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data modeling and familiarity with lending CRMs/LOS.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills for compiling technical financial credit briefs.

Nice to have

  • Experience in private lending, non-bank lending (MFI/NBFC), or mortgage broking.
  • Exposure to bridging loans, construction/development finance, or asset-backed lending.
  • Tertiary degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
