What you will do

  • Perform immediate medical care for sick and injured patients in accordance with clinical practice guidelines.
  • Operate ambulances and support vehicles safely across various communities in Nova Scotia.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and first responders during emergency calls and mass casualty incidents.
  • Facilitate patient transport between medical facilities and provide critical support during hospital transitions.
  • Maintain clinical documentation, equipment readiness, and vehicle decontamination protocols.

Requirements

  • Licensure: Must be licensed with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Paramedicine (NSROP)
  • Certification: Completion of an NSROP approved EMR training program and passing the COPR Entry to Practice Exam
  • Driver's License: Valid Nova Scotia Class 4 driver's license
  • Physical Fitness: Successful completion of the Employment Physical Abilities Test (PC-PAT/OPPAT)
  • Language: Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English for communication and reporting
  • Clear criminal background check and vulnerable sector search

  • Experience operating larger vehicles.
  • Driving experience in a similar emergency response environment.
