What you will do

• Design and build high-quality customer-facing experiences using modern web technologies and type-safe APIs.
• Develop and maintain backend services and integrations that power core insurance journeys.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability tools to ensure safe and frequent deployments.
• Partner with product, design, and data teams to turn ambiguous opportunities into measurable improvements.
• Make pragmatic technical trade-offs regarding performance, flexibility, and delivery speed.
• Raise the technical bar through code reviews, design discussions, and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to commute to London for hybrid work.
• Proven track record of leading and shipping significant work in a senior engineering role.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and modern SSR frameworks like Next.js or Astro.
• Experience with backend development using Node.js or Go and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, or similar).
• Strong product instincts and ability to reason about technical trade-offs with cross-functional stakeholders.
