TL;DR

DevOps Engineer (API Platform): Managing and enhancing the Kong API Gateway platform across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments with an accent on scalability, security, and high availability. Focus on designing infrastructure, automating deployment pipelines, and enabling seamless data exchange for 8000+ internal engineers.

Location: Must be based in the Netherlands and have the legal right to work in the Netherlands.

Salary: €4,024–€5,747 gross per month.

What you will do

  • Design and implement Kong API Gateway solutions in AKS, EKS, and OpenShift environments.
  • Manage the lifecycle of Kong components, including gateways, ingress controllers, and plugins.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code scripts and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot API traffic, latency, and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with security and application teams to define API standards and governance.
  • Ensure secure API exposure through authentication, rate limiting, and auditing.

Requirements

  • Must be located in the Netherlands with the legal right to work in the Netherlands.
  • 3+ years of experience in a DevOps or Platform Engineer role.
  • Strong experience with Kong API Gateway and Kubernetes (AKS/EKS).
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, Terraform, and AzureCLI.
  • Experience with OpenShift and container deployments.
  • Familiarity with API security (OAuth2, mTLS, JWT) and monitoring tools like Splunk or Grafana.

Nice to have

  • Experience with financial services technology and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of enterprise governance and compliance.
  • Familiarity with legacy system integration and modernization.
