Design Release Engineer (Infotainment)

TL;DR

Design Release Engineer (Infotainment): Managing the end-to-end release of infotainment units and VCU hardware/software with an accent on cross-functional alignment and high-quality delivery. Focus on resolving complex technical issues, managing release requirements, and coordinating between global engineering partners and internal teams.

Location: Hybrid (Warren, MI). Must report to the Warren Technical Center at least three times per week. No immigration sponsorship provided.

What you will do

• Lead VCU hardware and software development, including architecture, feature specification, and test plan reviews.
• Manage release plan requirements and ensure delivery following GM processes.
• Provide technical leadership to resolve complex hardware, software, validation, and integration issues.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal partners across manufacturing, IT, and vehicle integration teams.
• Execute the timely release of hardware and software part numbers and manage engineering changes.
• Ensure all regulatory and certification requirements are met throughout development and launch.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of infotainment technologies including Bluetooth, Voice Recognition, Wi-Fi, and Navigation.
• Ability to work independently and influence cooperation across diverse vehicle teams and suppliers.
• Must have valid US work authorization; no immigration sponsorship provided (H-1B, TN, OPT, etc.).
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• Prior Design Release Engineer experience.
• Experience authoring and managing engineering change requests.
• Experience supporting manufacturing plants and launch activities.
