Thermal Systems Simulation Integration Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan; reporting to the site at least three times per week. Travel required up to 25%. Relocation benefits are not provided.

What you will do

• Lead delivery of integrated full-vehicle co-simulation packages for thermal systems design, development, and validation.
• Coordinate cross-functional partners to resolve program issues and support system-level simulation needs.
• Act as the primary contact for thermal systems co-simulation users and resolve usage concerns.
• Align co-simulation packages with software releases, calibration milestones, and SIE governance standards.
• Plan resource needs, identify process and methodology improvements, and advocate for virtual engineering methods.
• Represent thermal systems requirements among simulation integration engineers from other disciplines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with 1D and 3D thermal systems plant models, virtual controllers, control strategies, and system-level integration.
• Experience with CAE or controls integration tools such as GT Power, AMESIM, CarSim, CarMaker, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar tools.
• Ability to balance technical theory with practical limitations and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field.
• Familiarity with Git, Teamcenter, or other version control and simulation data management systems.
• Experience with CFD tools such as STAR-CCM+, FLUENT, or SIMERICS.
• Experience characterizing thermal systems with 3D CFD tools and developing 1D plant models.
• Automotive experience, performance driving, or participation in teams such as Mini-Baja, Formula SAE, PACE, or Eco-Car.
