Senior Platform Engineer (AV Cloud)

What you will do

• Build and evolve internal platform capabilities, self-service workflows, and APIs to improve AV engineering velocity.
• Design abstractions for complex infrastructure, including specialized GPU hardware, to simplify consumption for research teams.
• Optimize platform primitives for traffic, service mesh, and connectivity for distributed AV workloads.
• Reduce operational toil through reusable tooling, declarative automation, and the definition of SLIs/SLOs.
• Own complex platform initiatives from problem definition through design, implementation, and adoption.
• Contribute to engineering culture via design reviews, code reviews, and technical mentorship.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience defining and executing technical strategy coordinated across multiple teams and executives.
• Full proficiency in Kubernetes (GKE) and the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem (VPC, IAM).
• Strong software engineering skills in Golang or Python and experience with Terraform.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale, high-availability distributed systems in production.
• Proven experience managing trade-offs between hardware-level performance (GPU passthrough) and cloud abstractions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional work experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Service Mesh (Istio) and large-scale DNS or traffic management.
• Experience supporting AI/ML workloads or working with ML platforms and tooling.
• Experience owning or influencing platform SLOs and availability targets in production.
