Scientist, Process and Product Development (Contract) (Cell Therapy)

Location: South San Francisco, California; onsite. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $55–$58 per hour; the expected range is $50–$58 per hour depending on experience, qualifications, location, and business needs.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, characterize, and execute robust clinical-scale CAR T manufacturing processes.
• Execute and analyze Design of Experiments studies for process understanding, optimization, and characterization.
• Support clinical-scale non-GMP manufacturing and BLA-enabling process characterization activities.
• Evaluate process parameters, materials, closed or disposable systems, and operational workflows to improve manufacturing capabilities.
• Collaborate with Project Technical Teams and stakeholder groups, presenting data and strategy in technical meetings.
• Maintain high-quality documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks and technical reports, contributing to regulatory filings and responses.

Requirements

• BS in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related field.
• MS with at least 5 years of experience or BS with at least 8 years of experience.
• Foundational understanding of mammalian or primary cell culture, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and immunology.
• Experience with continuous manufacturing, upstream genetic modification, bioreactor or WAVE expansion, and cryopreservation is preferred.
• Experience with gene editing or gene delivery, T-cell flow cytometry, FMEA, process characterization, and DoE methodologies is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, prioritization, multitasking, and collaborative skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
