Senior Firmware Engineer (Matter/ESP32)

What you will do

• Own firmware development from schematic review and board bring-up through production and OTA updates.
• Implement Matter protocol on ESP32-series silicon using ESP-IDF.
• Debug complex interoperability issues across Apple Home, Google Home, and Alexa ecosystems.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to validate designs using JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, and protocol sniffers.
• Ensure firmware meets certification standards for production-ready devices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional embedded/firmware engineering experience in C/C++.
• Significant experience with ESP-IDF (CMake/Kconfig, FreeRTOS, low-level drivers).
• Demonstrable work implementing Matter on ESP32-series silicon.
• Must reside in the continental US and be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Deep understanding of Matter transports (Wi-Fi or Thread) and secure boot/flash encryption.

Nice to have

• Contributions to open-source Matter or ESP-IDF repositories.
• Experience taking a Matter device through CSA certification.
• Background in Zigbee, Z-Wave, or BLE Mesh.
• Experience setting up CI/CD for firmware builds and automated test harnesses.
