Transport Economist

TL;DR

Transport Economist: Applying economic thinking and analysis to transport, providing advice to clients across a range of transport modes and related wider challenges around economic performance, housing delivery, net-zero and place with an accent on developing business case analysis in line with the Department’s Transport Analysis Guidance (TAG). Focus on leading the development of business cases and other related advice, and of reporting this to senior clients or officials.

What you will do

• Provide high-quality advice to clients and stakeholders.
• Lead work streams within projects, ensuring best practice techniques are applied consistently.
• Prepare and present reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Manage project budgets exercising effective financial and budgetary control.
• Specify economic analysis, interpret and review outputs, and convey findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to the production and delivery of proposals related to our market area and assist in general business development initiatives.

Requirements

• Be comfortable working in creative multi-disciplinary teams and provide positive contributions.
• Demonstrate a strong track record in the field and transport economics and business case development.
• Take responsibility for key tasks and workstreams, managing multiple deadlines in parallel.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven project management/delivery experience in a transport environment.
