Tech Writer (Defense & Security): Researching and translating technical information into operational and maintenance manuals for military and civil aviation simulations with an accent on hardware engineering collaboration and technical documentation. Focus on developing training materials, creating user-friendly graphics, and conducting simulator on-the-job training.

Location: Arlington, TX. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a DoD Personal Security Clearance.

What you will do

• Translate complex technical concepts into understandable text and graphics for manuals.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineering to write operational and maintenance documentation.
• Develop technical manuals that adhere to specific customer format requirements.
• Coordinate with internal personnel and customers regarding the progress of manual development.
• Partner with technical publications teams to create train-the-trainer courseware.
• Conduct structured classroom instruction and simulator On-the-Job Training (OJT) for equipment operation and maintenance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a technical writer or instructor.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to government contract requirements.
• Must be eligible for and able to obtain a DoD Personal Security Clearance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or Communications is a plus.

Nice to have

• Experience authoring and editing technical manuals specifically for the military.
• Proficiency with PTC Arbortext Editor and Adobe suite.
• Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical drawings, parts lists, and CAD tools.
• Experience with the operation and maintenance of full-flight simulators.
