What you will do

• Produce timely analysis of distressed credit situations supporting editorial coverage
• Monitor portfolio of distressed issuers for covenant breaches, ratings, liquidity, and restructurings
• Build and maintain financial models for capital structures, maturities, and recovery scenarios
• Assist senior team in researching and fact-checking investigative pieces on restructurings and disputes
• Contribute to Default Notice newsletter and recurring content on distressed landscape
• Engage with lawyers, advisors, and investors to build sources and gather market intelligence

Requirements

• Location: New York (Hybrid)
• 0–2 years in leveraged finance, credit analysis, restructuring advisory, or financial journalism
• Strong understanding of corporate capital structures, credit agreements, and debt restructuring mechanics
• Clear, concise writing to translate complex situations into accessible analysis
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
• Curious, self-directed, able to handle multiple deadlines with accuracy
• Genuine interest in distressed credit dynamics

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Bloomberg or other financial data terminals
