Software Engineer (Design System)

Location: Remote, but must live within approximately 70 miles of office locations in Allen, TX; Lenexa, KS; Springfield, MO; Monett, MO; Birmingham, AL; Charlotte, NC; or Louisville, KY

What you will do

• Develop, test, and document web components ensuring adherence to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and cross-browser performance.
• Maintain and scale the design token system to ensure consistent branding across all platforms.
• Contribute to the underlying system architecture to support codebase evolution and the adoption of modern technologies.
• Design robust APIs and create component playgrounds to optimize the Developer Experience (DX) for product teams.
• Manage monorepo tooling and CI/CD pipelines, and develop custom Figma plugins.
• Drive innovation by exploring AI applications to improve the design system and developer tooling.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of software engineering experience.
• Expertise in frontend engineering with a focus on design systems using Web Components, React, or Vue.
• High proficiency in modern JavaScript, Node.js, and a deep understanding of DOM architecture and web accessibility.
• Deep knowledge of CSS, including Custom Properties, Flexbox/Grid, and Container Queries.
• Ability to translate Figma design specifications into pixel-accurate code.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without current or future immigration sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, PERM).

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Lit and native web components.
• Experience designing components directly in Figma.
• A history of contributions to open source software.
• Python proficiency for building automation or AI tooling.
