Senior Data Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Data Engineer (Azure/Spark): Design and implement robust, scalable data pipelines for healthcare platform with an accent on data ingestion, transformation, quality features, and modeling. Focus on building reliable data exports, supporting analytics, and mitigating production issues using cloud infrastructure and big data technologies.

Hybrid - at least 3 days/wk in Vancouver, BC

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and quality.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to build data models improving reliability and interpretability for analytics and business needs.
• Develop and maintain data export solutions for efficient transfer to external systems.
• Contribute to design documents, technology assessments, PoCs, and technology roadmap.
• Support production jobs, write tests, conduct PR reviews, and establish best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years as Data Engineer building enterprise data solutions.
• 3+ years with cloud infrastructure on Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, expertise in Microsoft SQL Server or relational DBs, performance tuning.
• Experience with Spark (preferred), Databricks, data lakes, scalable fault-tolerant pipelines.
• IaC tools like Terraform; strong communication for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Healthcare standards: HL7, X12 EDI, FHIR.
• RESTful APIs, dashboards with Power BI.
