TL;DR

GNC/AOCS Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and developing guidance, navigation, and control systems for lunar landers and transportation platforms with an accent on system architecture, technical budgets, and V&V. Focus on performing system-level trade-offs, coordinating interdisciplinary requirements, and maintaining MBSE tools to ensure mission success.

Location: Hybrid in Tokyo, Japan (Relocation required for overseas candidates)

What you will do

  • Define product baselines, system architecture, ICDs, and operations concepts.
  • Perform system-level trade-offs to evaluate design baseline changes for individual missions.
  • Manage technical budgets including mass, propellant, and pointing/landing accuracy.
  • Lead requirements management and contribute to risk assessments and mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate with AIT and Flight/Test Operations to define verification plans and operational concepts.
  • Maintain and integrate Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in at least two stages of GNC (AOCS) subsystem lifecycle (design, implementation, integration, V&V, or operations).
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Python, or equivalent programming languages.
  • Working level of English is required.
  • Must be based in or relocate to Tokyo, Japan.

Nice to have

  • Experience with other subsystems such as Structure, Thermal, Avionics, Propulsion, or Communications.
  • Knowledge of FMECA, reliability analysis, and hazard analysis.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and spacecraft operations.
  • Working level proficiency in Japanese.
