Senior Technical Writer (SaaS)

TL;DR

Senior Technical Writer (SaaS): Developing comprehensive technical documentation for an API platform with an accent on simplifying the API lifecycle and improving developer collaboration. Focus on synthesizing complex technical specifications into user-centric resources and mentoring other writers.

Location: Onsite 5 days a week in San Francisco, Boston, Austin, Tokyo, or London (Bangalore currently hybrid)

Salary: $160,000 – $190,000

What you will do

• Own and drive documentation for dedicated feature sets and product areas.
• Plan documentation in conjunction with product release cycles through specifications and hands-on experimentation.
• Perform editorial reviews and provide constructive feedback to teammates to ensure content quality.
• Deliver high-quality reference and procedural information for a broad user base, from engineers to non-technical users.
• Liaise with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to establish documentation needs.
• Mentor other writers on processes and best practices for best-in-class documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of technical writing experience.
• Proven experience documenting SaaS products.
• Strong communication skills and ability to learn technical development workflows independently.
• User empathy, potentially through experience in tech support or customer-facing roles.
• Ability to work effectively within a diverse global team across multiple time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docs as Code / Docs like Code approach.
• Writing Markdown-based content.
• Proficiency with source control systems, specifically Git.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
