Staff Software Engineer (Fullstack)

TL;DR

Staff Full-Stack Engineer (Node/TypeScript/React): Architect, build, and evolve end-to-end systems spanning backend services and modern web UIs powering live calling workflows with an accent on real-time high-scale product surfaces like SIP/event-driven softswitch paths, WebSocket-driven experiences, and streaming audio processing. Focus on leading architecture and system design, ensuring simplicity, performance, reliability, and massive leverage across the platform.

Remote within the United States (this role is not open outside the U.S. at this time).

Compensation: $225K – $260K • Offers Equity. Base salary: $200,000–$250,000.

What you will do

• Own complex product areas end-to-end across Node/TypeScript backends and React frontends—from discovery to iteration.
• Lead architecture for real-time high-volume workflows like call routing, WebSockets UIs, and streaming audio.
• Author technical design docs, set standards for code quality, testing, performance, observability, and scalable designs.
• Collaborate with PM, Design, and engineers to deliver intuitive experiences and make trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and feedback to foster engineering excellence.
• Improve DevEx, APIs, data contracts, testing, and progressive delivery; participate in on-call.

Requirements

• 8+ years professional software engineering experience with Staff-level scope (cross-team leadership, strategy, delivery).
• Proven track record owning products/features full lifecycle.
• Expertise in TypeScript/Node.js, modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React), strong SQL with RDBMS like PostgreSQL.
• Depth in distributed systems or real-time patterns (WebSockets/streaming/PubSub), performance optimization.
• Strong product mindset, communication to simplify complexity and align stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure); CI/CD, progressive delivery.
• Telephony, SIP softswitches (e.g., FreeSWITCH), real-time/event-driven domains.
• Familiarity with stack: NodeJS/TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, GCP, FreeSWITCH.
