Data Engineer

TL;DR

Data Engineer (Azure/Databricks): Building and optimizing scalable data pipelines and architectures for Data & AI initiatives in digital healthcare with an accent on cloud-native solutions using Azure, Databricks, and DBT. Focus on designing data models, ensuring high data quality, and applying CI/CD practices for performance and security.

Location: Cologne, Germany (hybrid/remote possible, up to 20 days a year anywhere in the EU)

What you will do

• Design and optimize scalable data pipelines and data architecture.
• Build cloud-native data solutions using Azure, Databricks (Unity Catalog & Delta Lake), and big data technologies.
• Build and maintain DBT models across domains like finance, e-commerce, pharma, and supply chain.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and analysts to deliver data-driven solutions.
• Apply CI/CD practices and improve performance, scalability, and security.
• Contribute to data culture through learning and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering and data management.
• Hands-on experience with Azure or other public clouds, building scalable data pipelines and ensuring data quality.
• Strong expertise in DBT and SQL for data modeling and analysis.
• Solid experience with Databricks (Spark, Unity Catalog).
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or Java.
• Understanding of business domains, ideally e-commerce.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Motivation to work in innovative environment and improve cloud-native systems.
