What you will do

• Develop and execute comprehensive experiments in multilayer pouch cells, covering slurry, coating, and electrolyte optimization.
• Act as the primary technical architect for cylindrical cell design, translating pouch cell learnings into mass production.
• Collaborate with contract manufacturing partners to transfer in-house pilot line technology to scale production.
• Perform root-cause failure analysis on prototype and mass production cells.
• Apply statistical methods and modeling (JMP, Python) to interpret results and inform design iterations.
• Facilitate technical collaboration between internal teams, external partners, and customers.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Alameda, CA.
• B.S. in engineering or science with 12+ years of experience in batteries (fewer with an advanced degree).
• Proven expertise in cylindrical cell design and lithium-ion process steps (slurry, coating, cell tear down).
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python and JMP.
• Strong communication skills; fluency in Mandarin or Korean is a plus.
• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and wear required PPE.
