What you will do

• Develop and execute comprehensive experiments in multilayer pouch full cells, covering slurry, coating, and electrolyte optimization.
• Translate electrode and cell design learnings from pouch cells into cylindrical cell architecture through modeling.
• Act as the primary technical architect for cylindrical cell design, managing the transfer of pilot line technology to mass production.
• Perform thorough failure analysis on prototype and mass production cells to identify root causes.
• Apply advanced data analysis, statistical methods, and modeling (JMP, Python) to inform design iterations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to prepare customer-facing data packages and facilitate technical transfers.

Requirements

• B.S. in engineering or science with 7+ years of experience in batteries or a related field.
• Deep expertise in cylindrical cell design and familiarity with failure mechanisms.
• Strong technical background in lithium-ion battery processes including slurry, coating, and cell teardown.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as JMP and Python.
• Location: Must be based in or able to work onsite in Alameda, CA.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
