TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineering Designer (General Assembly): Develop high-quality Siemens NX math models and tooling CAD designs for automotive assembly lines with an accent on DFM, DFA, and DFAA principles. Focus on parametric modeling, virtual integration, subsystem layouts, and optimizing manufacturability to reduce part complexity and MCPU.
Hybrid in Warren, Michigan: expected to report to office at least 3 days/week. No immigration sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.). Eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do
- Develop and maintain Siemens NX math models, parametric designs, and typical sections for product and GA tooling.
- Apply DFM/DFA/DFAA to optimize designs for manufacturing, assembly, and automation efficiency.
- Integrate tooling, components, and subsystems into GA stations, considering plant conveyors and full vehicle layouts.
- Support virtual build events, design reviews, and NX-based analysis for manufacturability validation.
- Collaborate with MTS, Product Engineering, and AVDC teams to translate requirements into production-ready solutions.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to team standards and reusable design frameworks.
Requirements
- 5+ years in CAD design or engineering (automotive/mechanical preferred).
- Strong proficiency in Siemens NX (3D modeling, parametric design, assemblies, drafting).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for plant layouts and 2D drawings.
- Solid understanding of GD&T, DFM/DFA/DFAA, and assembly integration.
- Experience with complex assemblies and translating manufacturing requirements to 3D models.
- Self-directed problem-solving and clear communication of technical concepts.
Nice to have
- 2+ full project cycles in manufacturing engineering or vehicle launch.
- Experience in tooling/manufacturing equipment design and CAE/simulation.
- Bachelor’s in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
- Familiarity with automotive GA environments and cross-functional reviews.
